Effect of Laser Biostimulation on Germination of Sub-Optimally Stored Flaxseeds (Linum usitatissimum)

چکیده
Sub-optimal storage of grains could deteriorate seed germination and plant viability. Recent research studies have established that laser biostimulation seeds be used as a safe sustainable alternative to chemical treatment for improving crop growth. Herein, the efficacy this novel technique is evaluated see if poor germinability caused by sub-optimal flaxseeds (Linum usitatissimum) reversed using biostimulation. Healthy were first subjected conditions (30 °C ten weeks) degrade their germinability. Two low-cost lasers, including single-wavelength red (659 nm) dual-wavelength green/infrared (531 810 nm (ratio ~10:1)) then on two groups viz. healthy (properly stored) sub-optimally stored (artificially degraded (AD)) irradiated 0 (control), 5, 10, 15 min total power densities 7.8 6.2 mW/cm2, respectively. In case AD seeds, 5-min was found most efficient setting it improved mean percentage, time, speed, rate index, wet weight, dry weight 29.3, 16.8, 24.2, 15.7, 20.6%, respectively, with respect control samples. induce significant enhancement in seeds’ root length, (improved 26, 23, 8%, respectively) under 10 irradiation. On other hand, effect applied not very promising only time 17%). Overall, study demonstrates potential reversing adverse storage. We believe these findings spur development physical tool manipulating

Biotechnology can offer useful tools to complement conventional breeding programs. The techniques of in vitro selection, that exploit phenomenon, called somaclonal variation, by screening cell cultures for resistance to herbicides, different types of stress or diseases, already helped to obtain tolerant lines of flax (Linum usitatissimum), which were used in further commercial breeding programs...
